Walking
The Crown is situated in the heart of the Kentish Weald and has some of the most beautiful countryside to explore.

There are many great walks to choose from in the area and we have selected a few for you to enjoy. The following pages have maps and routes which you can print out for use during your visit.

Walk 1 - A Circular Walk Around Groombridge (approx 3 or 6 miles)

Walk 2 - A Circular Walk From The Crown via Ashurst (approx. 4 miles)

Walk 3 - A Circular Walk From The Crown via Ashusrt Park and Stone Cross (approx. 4 miles)

Walk 4 - A Circular Walk From Burrswood (approx. 4 miles)

Walk 5 - A Circular Walk From Withyham (approx. 5 miles)

Walk 6 - A Walk Across The Ashdown Forest (approx. 8 miles)

Maps
There is also a web site www.highweald.org which shows many local rambles. The Ashdown Forest is the largest public access site in S.E. England and you can walk, cycle, and horse ride there. www.ashdownforest.org

Cycling
There are two lovely cycling routes the Forest Way track a 10 mile route from Forest Way to Groombridge passing through East Grinstead and the Cuckoo Line from Eridge, south of Groombridge to Polegate passing through open countryside The tracks are shared with ramblers and horse riders.

Rock Climbing
About 3 miles from the Crown is an excellent climbing centre called Evolution a modern indoor arena located on the Kent/Sussex border which has good facilities including an abseiling tower and a Board training room.It is suitable for all ages and abilities.www.evolutionindoorclimbing.co.uk Also in Groombridge are Harrisons Rocks an area with rocks having a variety of climbs for different abilities.www.softrockclimbing.co.uk/harrisons_rocks.htm

Golf
This area has many quality golf courses including the Neville at Crowborough Beacon and Sweetwoods Park a challenging 72 par course set in a stunning part of the Wealden area. Next to Sweetwoods is Holtye another lovely course Lingfield Park course near to the race course is also quite a challenge.

Horse Riding
At Nutley on the Ashdown Forest is a riding school where you can explore the bridleways round the forest phone 01892 864 807 Ashdown Forest Riding school.

Fishing
